We’re going to take a break from COVID today to talk a little bit about elections. I’m very firmly of the opinion that, in almost every field, there are far more serious professionals just trying to do their job and help people than nefarious forces at work trying to sabotage things for political purposes.
Good stuff. A simple point that seems to get missed by the "it's safe and effective" crowd is that scale breaks things that otherwise "work". This is why Google so famously insists on software developers with a strong foundation in algorithms who don't naively apply brute force solutions. This is in many ways a "hardware" problem which makes it even more sticky. We should be going in with eyes wide open.
